2019-2020 Youth and Young Adult Vaping Project

This project was conducted by Smoke-Free Nova Scotia, The Lung Association of Nova Scotia, and Heart & Stroke. It was a survey of Canadian youth (16-18 years old) and young adult (19-24 years old) e-cigarette users in all ten Canadian provinces.

Canadian Cannabis Survey (CCS)

The CCS is a cross-sectional survey of Canadians aged 16 and older that started in 2017 and is conducted each year. It examines various aspects of cannabis use.

Canadian Community Health Survey (CCHS)

The CCHS is a cross-sectional survey that collects health-related data of Canadians 12 years of age and older every two years. There is summary data available about smoking.

Canadian Student Tobacco, Alcohol, and Drugs Survey (CSTADS)

CSTADS is a cross-sectional survey of Canadian students in grades 7 to 12 that collects data on substance use behaviours and other national health priorities (e.g., sleep). This survey had detailed data about smoking, cannabis, and vaping and is conducted every two years. The survey is now conducted by Statistics Canada on behalf of Health Canada. Canadian Tobacco, Alcohol, and Drugs Survey (CTADS)

CTADS is a cross-sectional survey of Canadians aged 15 years and over that collects data on substance use behaviours. This survey had detailed data about smoking, cannabis, and vaping and is conducted every two years. The survey is now conducted by Statistics Canada on behalf of Health Canada. Canadian Tobacco and Nicotine Survey (CTNS)

CTNS is a cross-sectional survey conducted by Statistics Canada on behalf of Health Canada that measured the prevalence of smoking, vaping, cannabis use, and alcohol use among Canadians aged 15 years and older. Definitions of key terms used in this survey data can be read here.

ITC Youth Tobacco and Vaping Survey

The ITC (International Tobacco Control Policy Evaluation Project) Youth Tobacco and Vaping Survey is a longitudinal study that assesses tobacco and vaping product use among school-age youth in the United States, Canada, and England. The first wave of data was collected in 2017 and additional waves have been conducted in 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021. To learn more about this survey, click here.
